The Cowingene Chlamydia Trachomatis Detection Kit (CT Detection Kit) is intended for the in vitro qualitative detection of Chlamydia trachomatis (CT) in urine, male urethral swab, female cervical swab, and female vaginal swab samples, and provides aid to the diagnosis of patients with genitourinary tract infections. Sexually transmitted infection (STI) remains one of the important threats to global public health security. The disease can lead to infertility, premature birth, tumors and various serious complications. There are many types of STI pathogens, including bacteria, viruses, chlamydia, mycoplasma and spirochetes, etc.
Chlamydia is a common sexually transmitted infection that can occur in both men and women. It is caused by a bacterium called Chlamydia trachomatis. It is easily treated and cured with antibiotics.
Chlamydia is unlikely to lead to any long-term problems if treated early. However, without treatment, chlamydia can cause serious problems and may facilitate the transmission and acquisition of HIV and other STIs. If not treated, chlamydia can cause serious problems, including pelvic inflammatory disease and an increased risk of infertility and ectopic pregnancy. In pregnant women, it can cause the baby to be born early (prematurity) or with low birth weight.
